Hearty Stacked Deep Dish Pizza

Serves 4-6


  • 2 Happie cheese pizzas, cooked according to package instructions
  • 4 oz ground sausage, browned
  • 4 oz ground bison or lean beef, browned
  • ½ c green bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ c white onion, diced
  • 4-5 Crimini mushrooms, sliced
  • ½ c jarred pizza sauce
  • 1 small heirloom tomato, diced
  • 10 pepperoni slices
  • 6 oz mozzarella cheese, grated


Bake Happie cheese pizzas according to package instructions. While the pizzas are baking, in a medium skillet, brown sausage with ground bison or beef along with the peppers and onions (5 minutes).

Add mushrooms and sauce, stirring to heat (3-4 minutes).

Top with diced tomatoes, pepperonis and grated cheese. Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low allowing the pepperonis to heat and the cheese to melt.

Once pizzas are done baking, place one pizza into the bottom of a warmed cast-iron skillet and spoon 2 cups of the meat/veggie/cheese topping over top of the first pizza and then top with the second pizza (sauce and cheese side up).

Slice and serve.
